SPRING EQUINOX

ENERGY OF EMERGENCE

Another Beautiful piece of art by the wonderful Ruth Evans. This picture just summed up this time of the year for me as we move closer to Spring Equinox on the 20th March. March is a transition month, moving from the darkness of winter towards the long days of the summer.

March is synonymous with being a windy, blustery month as the northern hemisphere of the planet tilts towards the sun, we get pockets of warm air creating glorious spring days but cool air is still present and when the warm air rises, cool air comes in to replace it creating wind.

The rhythm of Spring is linked to the direction of the east and the element of air; the winds of change and new ideas. If we overlay the wheel of the year with the 24hour clock, we are approaching 6am - the dawn chorus is growing louder and life is beginning to wake up. Its the time of equal days and equal nights, the dark and the light balance as we move out of Winter. The energy of the earth is increasing and nature is gathering momentum. How do we become more connected to nature and attune to the rhythm of the season in our own lives?

Where are we out of balance and what do we need to do to come back into balance?

If we've planted seeds, we are beginning to see the first shoots of growth. In our lives, if we have been giving energy to our own seeds of dreams and intentions, we are possibly seeing the first signs of progress. It's also a good time to review and decide if we need to change anything or release something so we can move forward. What baggage do we need to leave behind us in order to move ahead?

In the spirit of the energy of Spring, plans have been hatched and momentum is gathering at Root To Rise Studio :) With wonderful new teachers settling in to the studio, we have lots of classes to choose from throughout the week. There has been a great buzz about the place with new faces and familiar ones :) The class schedule is posted on the Root To Rise Blog, to see what classes are available please click on the link. I am also thrilled to be hosting the internationally renowned teacher, Benita Wolfe on Saturday 25th March for a full day workshop, from 10am to 5pm. This workshop is available for all levels as Benita's expertise and knowledge will guide you through the practice and provide modifications to poses to suit every yoga body. Benita's fun loving and welcoming style of teaching will put you at ease and make for a very enjoyable experience - if you are a student or a teacher who wants to improve your technique and deepen your knowledge of yoga then it's a great opportunity not to be missed.

We will be taking regular breaks throughout the day to ensure everyone's' needs are catered for and of course a generous lunchbreak :) Please bring a lunch along or alternatively there is a shop just across the road and two more close by if you prefer and we have kitchen facilities on site.

If you cannot make the full day, morning and afternoon workshops are also available.

The morning workshop will be a warming practice of strengthening poses along with heart opening and balance poses with meditation and breath to close.

The afternoon workshop will be a slow flow practice to reset and rest incorporating hip openers, twists, supported inversions and meditation.
